Came here with my cousin visiting from out of state. A Atlanta landmark from yesteryear featuring celebs and different people over the years. Ambiance during the week very subdued but once GT football season arrives in the fall Saturdays are a madhouse! Through the years the prices have risen like everything but the hotdogs, hamburgers, fries, and most of all the onion rings stand the test if time! Delicious! Its good to come back once in a while to get away from the rat race. Varsity well worth the trip!!

I live on the west coast and have dreamed about visiting this place for over a decade, finally did and it was as classic as it can get. Got the #2 combo, the chili cheese dog had a great snap and flavor, the burger was ok, but again had classic flavor, and then I got onion rings, that were definitely made fresh and tasted so good! Lines were long, but service was quick with serving 4 of us.

It does not matter the low Yelp rating, they will come. Since 1928, The Varsity has been a destination serving up hotdogs, hamburgers and fixings from actor Clark Gable, Atlanta passerbys, church goes, baseball & football fans and more. Comedian Nipsey Russell worked here and credits honing his comedic skills while working at The Varsity and earning higher tips! There's one thing customers are guaranteed- their food is served hot, it's greasy ( fried French fries and rings), it's high in calories, it's all made in house and it's not diet food. If this isn't the type of restaurant you like, don't come and don't waste your money. The Varsity is a rare visit and splurge for me and my crew, but we love it! Through the years the food is consistently the same-something customers can count on. Their chili cheese dog is my go to while hubs loves the chili cheese slaw dog. Their onion rings are cut, battered and fried in house, as well as, their fresh fried skin on potatoes and always part of our order. Their chili is also made in house and so popular they can it for loyal customers. No frozen foods products here. Have you tried their Frosted Orange? It's also a popular menu item. The interior has remained pretty much the same. Formica tables and booths, employees wearing the signature red paper Varsity hat, tile floor,efficient & super long red counter with lots of customers in line are what you'll find here. I, for one, am hoping this dining institution is around for a long time to come!
